Flights From Sofia

Wizz Air Bulgaria, which is the Bulgarian division of Wizz Air, will be launching new routes to Ukraine, Switzerland and Tunisia. The carrier will be scheduled to fly from Sofia to Kiev, Tunisia and Basel three times a week. The route to Tunisia is the first regular route between there and Bulgaria. Wizz Air has also been appointed to fly to Germany, Greece, Turkey, Moldavia and Russia from Sofia.


Sultan of Oman increases investments

The Sultan of Oman who is the main shareholder in the Super Borovets project has made a further investment in Bulgaria. It is good to see that he is continuing his investments in the country even in the middle of the current global crisis. In a deal announced this month the State Fund of Oman has purchased a 30% stake in Bulgaria's Corporate Commercial Bank. The State Fund of the Sultan of Oman is one of the main investment institutions of the government of Oman. It has already realized a number of investments in Bulgaria including its involvement in Super Borovets, and sees the acquisition of part of the shareholding capital of the Corporate Commercial Bank as furthering its investment strategy in the country.

Winter in Borovets

This month Borovets has experienced excellent skiing conditions. There has been some heavy snowfall and in fact over 120cm of snow fell in just two days last week. In between the snowy days the skiers and boarders have had lovely powder conditions and clear blue skies. The school mid-term holidays was the busiest week here and the kids had a great time racing on their mini sledges and having snowball fights. We have attached some photos below to give you a taste of the resort at this time of year.




Construction Update

January and February have been very quiet months on the building site. Over the last few weeks we have had some heavy falls of snow and temperatures were around -10 at resort level. Up on the mountain the temperatures actually reached -20.

Some work has been continuing on the inside of the buildings but with the temperature so low it is not possible to work on many of the construction tasks. It is also very dangerous to be on the higher levels of the buildings due to the snow and ice.

By the middle of March the temperatures should start to rise again and we will then have a full team on site working hard to complete the complex.
