Welcome to our April 2009 newsletter. Chamkoria Chalets - Construction Update
Winter is finally over and the spring is very much welcomed by the team in Chamkoria Chalets. It has been a long winter and ski season here which has meant that construction work was really only able to restart in early April. Currently the builders are focusing on completing the installation of the thermal insulation.
There will be a lot of progress over the coming weeks and months and you can view our construction updates on our website. Smoking Ban In Bulgaria
The smoking ban could be put in place in Bulgaria as early as next year. At the beginning of April Bulgarian MPs approved a smoking ban which would take effect on 1st June 2010. The ban would prevent smoking in the workplace, outdoor and indoor public places. It is expected that the government will discuss this bill before November. Smoking is very popular in Bulgaria and almost 50% of people smoke. There is no health strategy or initiatives in place to curtail smoking unlike other European countries. Bulgaria’s tourist industry is opposed to these proposed changes and would prefer a more balanced approach. They believe this ban would have a large impact on the bar and restaurant industry especially for smaller businesses. Easter in Bulgaria
One of the Bulgarian Easter traditions includes the painting of eggs which starts on Holy Thursday. These painted eggs are destined for the game of ‘choukane s yaitsa’. People take turns in tapping their eggs against the eggs of others, and the person who ends up with the last unbroken egg is believed to have a year of good luck.
